Background of the Study
Work-from-home (WFH) policies have gained widespread adoption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and many organizations have continued to implement such policies even in post-pandemic times. These policies allow employees to work from home, typically using digital tools to communicate and perform job duties remotely. While WFH policies offer benefits such as flexibility and improved work-life balance, they may also present challenges related to employee engagement, productivity, and collaboration.
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), a leading beverage manufacturer, operates across Nigeria, including Adamawa State, where remote work policies have been implemented as part of its response to the pandemic and beyond. This study will assess the effects of WFH policies on employee efficiency at NBC, focusing on the specific challenges and opportunities it presents in the context of Adamawa State.
The study will explore whether remote work enhances or hinders employee performance and efficiency at NBC, considering factors such as communication, autonomy, and work-life balance. It will also assess the effectiveness of the company’s remote work policies in maintaining productivity and meeting organizational goals.
Statement of the Problem
Although work-from-home policies have been widely adopted, there is limited research on their specific effects on employee efficiency, particularly in manufacturing companies like NBC in regions with varying levels of infrastructure. The study will seek to understand how these policies have affected employee productivity at NBC in Adamawa State, and how the company can optimize its WFH strategy for better efficiency.
